ESA-ECMWF Workshop on Machine Learning for Earth System Observation and Prediction

Poster presentation at ESA-ECMWF Workshop on Machine Learning for Earth System Observation and Prediction

The Aircraft Operations Lab UC3M participated in the ESA-ECMWF Workshop on Machine Learning for Earth System Observation and Prediction, held from 7-10 May 2024 in Frascati, Italy. Organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), the workshop was a pivotal forum for exploring the synergies between machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and Earth System Observation and Prediction (ESOP).

The SESAR-funded KAIROS project was showcased in this workshop by UC3M researcher Bûn-Kim San, who presented a poster on wind reconstruction and nowcasting from weather station observation using physics-informed artificial intelligence. It was an opportunity to highlight the transformative potential of ML methodologies in advancing the project’s understanding and improvement of weather prediction.
