The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) is hiring four Assistant Professors for the 2025/26 academic year. This opportunity is part of UC3M’s commitment to attracting talented researchers and educators eager to contribute to the Department’s excellence in teaching and research.
We are looking for candidates across various fields of aerospace engineering, but there are three main ones related to the Aircraft Operations Lab UC3M research topics:
- Sustainable Aviation: Work on electrification, hydrogen propulsion, and alternative fuels to reduce aviation’s carbon footprint.
- Autonomous Systems & AI-Driven Optimization: Develop flight control systems, AI-enhanced decision-making, and automation to improve safety and efficiency.
- Air Traffic Management & Urban Air Mobility: Innovate in next-gen airspace operations and explore advanced UAM solutions for sustainable urban transport.
Position Details
- Experience: Up to 6 years of postdoctoral experience in Aerospace Engineering or related fields.
- Duties:
- Teaching: ~100 teaching hours/year in BSc and MSc Aerospace Engineering programs.
- Research: Competitive research, funding proposals, PhD supervision, and high-impact publishing.
- General: Contribution to departmental activities, management, and dissemination.
Contractual Conditions
- Salary: €30,000 – €40,000 per year, based on experience, with potential additional salary supplements for excellence.
- Benefits: Healthcare under the Spanish National System.
- Start date: September 2025.
- Contract duration: 3 years (extendable up to 6 years) based on positive evaluations.
