We are delighted to announce that María Cerezo, Assistant Professor and researcher at the Aircraft Operations Lab (UC3M), has officially started her Juan de la Cierva fellowship on 1 November , a highly competitive national grant that recognizes scientific excellence and supports promising research careers in Spain.
Her funded research line focuses on:
“Commercial formation flight for sustainability in aviation”
This work explores whether cooperative flight strategies could enable fuel savings and climate benefits by leveraging aerodynamic interactions between aircraft flying in formations. If demonstrated feasible at network-scale, formation flight could represent a disruptive paradigm shift in climate-efficient operations.
We congratulate María on this achievement, and we are proud to support and accompany this ambitious research path.
