The Aircraft Operations Lab runs in the 25th Intercampus UC3M

On March 16, 2025, the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid celebrated the 25th edition of its annual Intercampus Race, a hallmark event promoting athleticism, solidarity, and community engagement. The race featured two courses: a 10-kilometer route starting from the Leganés campus and concluding at the Getafe campus, and a 5-kilometer route beginning midway, both traversing urban landscapes.

This year’s race held special significance as all registration fees were dedicated to supporting research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In addition, the race included the usual collaborations with the Food Bank of Madrid with an “Operation Kilo – Intercampus” and Recumadrid with a clothing donation campaign. The event attracted over 2,100 participants, including students, faculty, and external runners.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering has a longstanding tradition of participating in the Intercampus Race, with faculty and students alike taking part each year. In the previous 24th edition, notable performances included Stefano Discetti securing first place in the PDI/PAS 5 km category and Maria Cerezo achieving second place in the women’s PDI/PAS 10 km category.

In this milestone 25th edition, the department continued its enthusiastic involvement. Professors Javier García-Heras and Manuel Soler showcased commendable athleticism, completing the 10-kilometer race in 41 and 52 minutes, respectively.

We look forward to returning next year, to continue fostering a culture of health, wellness and community spirit!
