Luis Cirujano Recognized with the International Francisco Coello Award

We are pleased to share that Luis Cirujano Pérez, currently serving as a Software Engineer in the Aircraft Operations Lab (UC3M), has been awarded the 2026 International Francisco Coello Award by the University of Jaén.

The award recognizes his outstanding undergraduate research on the application of artificial intelligence techniques, specifically Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), for the extraction of road markings from geospatial imagery. His work demonstrated the potential of advanced machine learning methods to automate tasks traditionally requiring significant human intervention.

This prestigious recognition highlights Luis’s expertise in artificial intelligence and software development, as well as his continued contributions to research and innovation within the aerospace engineering community at UC3M.
