The E-CONTRAIL project kicks off

The E-CONTRAIL project, an exploratory research funded by the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, was launched on 13 June.

Coordinated by Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) and in partnership with the Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH), the Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BIRA), and the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI), the project aims to understand the climatic impact of contrails and aviation-induced cloudiness. By blending cutting-edge AI techniques and climate science, E-CONTRAIL seeks to reduce uncertainties and contribute to a more sustainable aviation.

The kick-off meeting of the E-CONTRAIL project took place at the Puerta de Toledo campus of UC3M in Madrid. It was a successful event that brought together leading European institutions and experts in aviation, climate science and AI to establish the pillars of this promising research project that addresses the SESAR flagship “Aviation green deal”.

Thanks to the wonderful team of E-CONTRAIL!
